Why, Hello There...
I’m Parisa Babaee — a New York–based Iranian-American actor, writer, and filmmaker fluent in Farsi and English.
I grew up in the vibrant chaos of Tehran — a place that teaches you early how to find stillness in noise and beauty in contradiction. I began behind the camera, studying film at Sooreh School of Art & Cinema . My love of storytelling led me to directing — and to Tarokh Acting Studio, where I hoped to better understand the actors I was guiding.
Instead, I found my own truth in their shoes.
That experience cracked something open — and I never looked back. I went on to study theatre at Tehran Azad University and train with The Barrow Group and Upright Citizens Brigade, refining my craft and discovering the joy of living inside a story rather than orchestrating it.
Since then, I’ve performed in productions like All in the Timing, Passing and Failing in Paradise, and We’re Not Bad People, and starred in award-winning short films such as In My Eyes and The Fairy — which I also co-wrote and co-produced. I’m drawn to characters who live in the gray — the ones who feel too much, hide too well, and change quietly.
When I’m not on stage or set, you’ll find me writing, producing, or playing 8-ball (APA Division SE11 1st Place team, thank you very much). And if you bring up history, literature, art, film, or archaeology… prepare for a very long, very passionate conversation.
Stories are how I see the world — and acting is how I keep discovering it.
